May Morris Original Block Print
May Morris Original Block Print
This is an original reduction block print on fine art paper.
May Morris (25 March 1862 – 17 October 1938) was an influential instructor, embroideress, and designer, although her contributions are often overshadowed by those of her father, William Morris, a towering figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. In a scene dominated by men, she noticed women artists were being isolated and unsupported. Barred from joining the male only Art Workers Guild, they lacked a forum for social and professional networking. In a direct response to the continued exclusion, May Morris founded the Women's Guild of Arts in 1907. Members included some of the most notable figures in the Arts and Crafts Movement.
