Decorative elements play a large part in my life as a way of expressing myself. Through the use of delicate curvilinear forms I have found that they compliment the female figure. When a silhouetted female figure is placed within stylized surroundings, they begin to integrate into patterns as the figure becomes one with it’s surroundings. The forms in the composition begin to compete, cooperate, mimic, balance, or dance with each other. I am experimenting with pattern and elaboration to push decorative elements in the excessive direction. By using gold, cutouts of wallpaper, flocking paper, and printing on fabric I am heightening the overall sense of embellishment. Through ornamentation I am embodying rhythm, unity, and expression, to create comfort.
